Skeleton Boy

J.R. is working on mastering yet another skill.  Standing unassisted!!!  He's only able to stay standing for a few seconds, but it is still so crazy to see.  We thought it would be fun to try and capture it in a picture.

And we failed many times...

But in the end, our efforts were rewarded :)

Sick Baby

We saw a lot of this face this past week.

Breaks your heart, doesn't it?!  The frown was usually paired with some sweet whimpers.  He was an extremely good sport during his bout of sickness.  Continued to sleep so well...would usually wake up once during the night coughing and crying at which point we would go pick him up, hold him for a few moments and then put him back down.  He would fall right back asleep, within minutes.

Oh he was so sweet during the days as well, but not quite his normal playful self. Except for a few brief moments. One of these moments came quite unanticipated...during bedtime routine of all things.  Since it was pretty cold last week, we started wrapping him in a special sleep sack that we used back in the day to help wean him from swaddling...just to give him an extra layer.  The sleep sack allows you to either keep arms out and free or swaddle them in.  As we were getting his little body in the sack, we decided to just swaddle his arms right in and see how he responded. He loved it! He was calm as he had been the whole day! Just kind of laid on the bed and looked sweetly around.  Very surprised parents! We thought he'd immediately try to squiggle his way out of the wrap. As for the playful moment mentioned above...we happened to catch it on video, so enjoy!

Busybody

Up.  Down.  All around.  A moment in the life of J.R.

Pleasantly Patient

Oh this little boy is getting so BIG!  Crazy.  Probably because he is such a good eater.  He loves pretty much everything he's given.  Except... have tried puffs and small pieces of bread, and he'll have nothing to do with them.  Even if I sneak them in his mouth on a spoon, he automatically makes an extremely displeased face and proceeds to try to get the foreign object out of his mouth as quickly as possible.  We keep trying.  Some day he'll learn to eat, right??  Well, here is the sweet one waiting patiently for his lunch while his crazy mamma snaps some photos.  Love him.
