The boy is THREE

I can't believe JR is 3 years old! Seems crazy to me.  His birthday was so fun this year because he is just old enough to have been really excited about it leading up to things.  It happened to be family day at the athletic facilities at NC state.  So we headed over there around 9:30 in the morning. They had a some basketball courts set up with snacks and fun crafts.  Also some badminton, bean bag toss and a few basketball hoops (shame on me for not getting any pictures of that).  JR was loving life.  After we spent some time there, we headed down to the swimming pool area.

What a stud! haha :)
We had dinner at Golden Corral which was followed by the part of the day that JR was really looking forward to...PRESENTS and CAKE (or cupcakes at least).

We were so excited to give him this new football uniform and thought he would just love it.  But apparently it was "TOO HUGE!!" Oh-well.  Maybe we'll wrap it up, stow it away and try again next year! Haha!

So excited to try out his new hoop!

Connor was a sweetheart just hanging out on the couch in great spirits

I wanted to get a shot with JR under a "happy birthday" sign we had hanging up so I asked him to go over and get under it. He immediately complied and got down right into this position! I just started laughing so hard. Jeff recently showed him how football players "take a knee" when they need to take a break.

Stripped down to keep his clothes clean...by his own choice :)

So sad it was time to end the cupcake eating festivities!

Happy Birthday, JR!!!

  1. What a great celebration! J.R. looks so big to me!! I love the cupcake shots, J.R. in the swimming pool, and J.R. taking a knee - and I love seeing him open his presents. I also love seeing Connor just chilling and smiling. What a sweetheart! Great brothers. And great job, mom and dad for a fun-filled birthday! Thanks for the narrative and for so many wonderful pictures. Love you all!!
