J.R. could not get enough of Jeff bouncing this ball on the high chair tray. His little laughs nearly did me in...so purely joyful. Loved it.

Hodgepodge
Part 1:
So, the three of us went on a little hiking (or nature walk really) adventure this past Saturday. It was great weather...a little cooler than normal for a mid July day and we wanted to take advantage. Isn't this a great view?! As much as I'd like to say that it was a strenuous journey to get to this point, that's not exactly the case. This view is from just beside our car in the parking lot before we'd done any walking whatsoever :)
Part 2:
No story here...just a precious picture.
Part 3:
J.R. has been on a rice cereal strike these past few days. He won't have anything to do with it. Apparently he's decided he's ready to move on up to the good stuff. Sorry buddy...not quite yet!

Burrito on the Loose
When we put the boy down on the ground for play time, in order to have any chance of him staying on the blanket for longer than a minute without rolling right off, we put him over on a far side as seen below so that when he rolls over, he'll be in the middle (since he's only rolling one direction as of yet).
This strategy worked great for a short while. However, with his two newly learned skills of rolling multiple times in a row and grabbing things, this is no longer an option as we learned this afternoon.
We put J.R. down as normal, Jeff went back to the bedroom and I headed to the kitchen to get some lunch ready. Jeff walked down the hallway not a minute after we had put J.R. on the floor and just started laughing. I turned around to see this precious sight. The little guy had apparently grabbed the edge of that blanket and just started rolling away. (Notice the toy elephant wrapped up right along with him).
And then one final roll onto the back. (Elephant managed to break free.) What a funny boy!

Yummy Yummy
Rice cereal??? What rice cereal??
It was much harder than I anticipated to try and film the little dude while I was feeding him so I'm sorry for the especially horrible cinematography of this little clip :)

Newfound Freedom
Some great news...J.R. has continued sleeping soundly as ever AND now without being swaddled! It ended up not being as huge a struggle as I thought I would be. I forget sometimes what an adaptable little dude he is. Well to start to wean from swaddling, I read somewhere that you should do a few naps with one arm swaddled and the other out, so one arm is what he got. It was so funny to put him down like that because this is what he looked like:
Next step up...swaddle with both arms out.
Which worked great. But then he started rolling up onto his side...
And then of course onto his tummy.
We figured it was probably time to go in for the kill and just put the boy down completely free of any wrappings. He did great!
My new favorite: The High Rise Bum!
